Day 28 – A Night walk to Sungubala

40 days – 40 hikes – Walking 4 Education

Children see magic because they look for it ~ Christopher Moore

The afternoon sunset was just amazing, the moon was going to be full and it was rather warm and I thought it would be rather fun heading off into the dark but I didn’t realize quite how lovely it would actually be….

We gathered at 20h30 on the lawn. The conference group joined us – sales & procurement! We headed off with a few headlights, two litres of milk, a flask and a bucket of milo. We met the teachers next to the school and wandered up the jeep track.

We didn’t need the headlights. We even had moon shadows! And, slowly all the jackets and scarves were stripped off. There was cheerful banter between Sales & Procurement all the way up. Sales was in the lead & being Sales they made sure we all knew!

At the camp, after breaking and entering, we heated our milk, made hot milo and the boys managed to get the fire going….

I love the story “The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark”. Night is magnificent, night is beautiful, night is exciting, night is magical…. It’s great to get out in the night….
