Day 25 – Umdloti

40 days – 40 hikes – Walking 4 Education

Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one ~ Malcolm Forbes

Local knowledge is key. There was much discussion with the Durban North ladies about our Monday morning walk, traveling, being stuck in traffic for hours and was Greyville really the right spot…. Since we are hill-billies we decided to heed their advice and so we skipped Greyville and walked at Umdloti.

It was a gorgeous morning, sun rising, a few clouds about but brilliant shades of blue all around us. We walked up and down – about 5kms – and then stopped for a lovely breakfast before heading back to our Indaba stand.

May is my favorite month in the Drakensberg but I think it is generally a great month anywhere in KwaZulu-Natal. Durban is just perfect today!
