Day 7 – Mahai Valley Meander

40 days ~ 40 hikes ~ Walking 4 Education

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page ~ Augustine of Hippo

We were sad to leave the mountain and Witsies but what a treat to descend gradually through the Mahai valley. First the high grassy hills, then sandstone outcrops and protea covered slopes which merge into lush Prodocarpus forests and rushing streams. Simply stunning.

This was a gradual downhill and easy walking. We then hit the contour path past Tiger Falls and we were reminded of how incredibly lucky we are to have the Royal Natal National Park on our door step. There are valleys to explore & so many mountains to climb!

Our hike ended at Thendele Camp – yet another special spot in the Drakensberg!
