Day 17 – Sunday Stroll to Silent Woman

40 days – 40 hikes – Walking 4 Education

Children must be taught how to think, not what to think ~ Margaret Mead

There was a slight change to the programme following the Big 5 Hike which had resulted in a set of rather stiff knees and so we opted for something easy and level, the Silent Woman.

We left The Cavern and headed through the Fern Forest at 3:30pm. About half-way through the Forest the path splits and we headed up to Bushbuck Ridge. It was a lovely warm afternoon and the sun was just about to disappear behind the hills.

We then headed through Sungubala Camp and down towards the river. The Silent Woman was in the shadow but as bold as ever.

We returned to the Camp where we had decided to spend the night. It’s a wonderful spot to gather. The Camels Camp at Sungubala can be booked by a group of 8-12 folk and there is a wonderful large kitchen, dining area and boma. We had a lovely braai and then settled in to our rondavels for the night.
