The Cavern – Photographic Practical Workshop 2018

Friday

15h00 – Book into the Cavern Resort.
16h00 – Sharp NB: If you are currently using Auto or Program Mode in your camera, it is vital that you attend this 16h00 program.

Due to the training period required, it will not be possible to repeat this program as there after, group practical sessions will take place. –

1.5 Hour Lecture And Practical On “How Your Camera Works”

– Meet your Presenters Norma & Ryan Pearman in the allocated Lecture Room.
– Know your equipment? Bring it along. Let us assist you with your photographic equipment and queries.
– Photographic Course notes will be provided.
– Lecture on Basic Photography and camera settings.
– Visual Show on Composition and Lighting
– Answer your questions
– Weekend Program

18h30 – 20h00 – Dinner

Saturday – Sunrise: 05h00

04h30 – Meet on the lawn outside Reception. Check your equipment settings and get into position for the sunrise at 05h00 over the Berg. On all outings please wear closed shoes are preferred (Takkies). Please dress warmly and a torch for the early morning photography.

NB: A circular polarizer filter, tripod and Electronic plug into your camera type release unit (not infra-red type) would be an advantage on all assignments.

07h30 – 09h00 Breakfast
09h45 – Meet on the lawn outside Reception.
09h45 – 11h00 – Indigenous Forest and Bridge – Forest Cascades and Waterfall

12h30 – 14h00 – Lunch
14h15 – Meet in the allocated Lecture Room – Macro made Easy, Visual Show and Practical in the garden.
18h30 – 20h00 – Dinner

Cavern’s Evening Entertainment – Provided by the Cavern Team. – See Notice Board for details and times

Sunday

04h30 – Meet in your vehicle at the exit gate next to the parking area.
04h35 – Depart in your car to the Amphitheatre and River scene area (8KM) to photograph the sunrise at 05h00.
05h00 – 07h30 – River Scenes, Wet Rocks, Zulu Huts and Mountain Scenery on return to the Cavern.
07h30 – 09h00 – Breakfast
09h30 – 11h00 – Charles wood Dam – Reflections in the water and Mountain Scenery.

Photographic Practical Workshops

 

Suggested list of Photographic Equipment

Camera:35mm or Digital. Any make of camera is welcome, bring your instruction book.
Lenses:Anything you have especially wide angle lenses.
Tripod:Will help steady your equipment especially in the early light and at the waterfall.
Remote release:Good for slow speed photography
Filters:If you have one a Polarizer filter would be great.
Film or Memory Card:There are many subjects to photograph so please bring enough. Most people in the past have taken over 100 pictures.
Batteries:Extra batteries for your camera are essential.
External Flash:Excellent for special macro work if you have one.

    Thank you for your enquiry.

    Apologies, we do not seem to have received your email yesterday.

    We do have a Standard room available, IN: 10th, OUT: 12th November for the Photographic workshop.

    The rate is R1400 per night for a single person, all meals, 2 teas and the Photo workshop included.
