Activities

Our resort offers all sorts of activities. We have two daily guided hikes, fishing and horse trails for the experienced and for the ‘not-so-sure’. If you’re keen on mountain biking, our trails will keep you busy for days. If you prefer taking it easy, our pool is the perfect place to relax with a book, a tray of tea or a cold beer. For those up for a challenge, there’s tennis, lawn bowls and board games, such as scrabble, chess or backgammon.

We welcome children. There are pony rides, canoeing trips on the dam and a safe, exciting playground in a garden setting.

      Hi Jane
There is a 9-hole Golf Course at Hlalanathi, just 10kms from the Cavern.
      Best wishes,
      Megan

    Hi Megan,
We were wondering whether The Cavern has a basket ball hoop/court as there are 2 or 3 young guys in our party arriving on 31st August who would love to play?
    Kind regards,
    Clare

      Hi Clare
There is a hoop up but it is all a bit rudimentary. Very welcome to play on the tennis courts though?
      Best wishes,
      Megan

  2. Hi,
We’re staying at a nearby lodge and would like to do the Cavern Big 5 hike. Do you have guides you recommend for that hike? It would just be for the two of us as I am not a very fit hiker, so likely to be slow.
    Thanks
    Carryn

      Hi Pieter
Unfortunately our berg streams are too small for river fishing. We have 4 small trout dams but regrettably no river front.
      Our best wishes,
      Megan

      Hi Sbu
Our daily rate is R1300 per person sharing per night. The total cost for 6 adults sharing for a night would be R7800. This includes all meals, teas and guided morning hikes.
      Best wishes,
      Megan

  3. Good day,

Are your dams well stocked with trout, and is the fishing good at the moment? Planning a weekend away in 2 weeks time.

      Hi Andrew
Incidentally our dams were stocked with trout last week so the fishing has been very good.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
      Best wishes,
      Megan

      Dear Ria
Thank you for your enquiry. Regrettably when we are at capacity we do close our gate to all day visitors. Unfortunately, we just don’t have space for more people. After the 15th January we will open our gates and will do so during the low season, midweek period only.
We wish you all the best,
      Megan

  5. We have activities for kids from 3-4 on a daily basis and 1-2 on Sundays. The activities that are available include colouring, puzzle-making, play-dough fun and construction activities on the carpet. Out of doors there is a chalk-board, a sandpit and a few swings. DVDs can also be played but we do encourage children to eat before putting on the movies. We also have quite alot of outdoor facilities for kids and we do also have nannies to hire.
