DAY 3 – Egg Hunting in the Great Outdoors

The 40 Series ~ 40 days ~ 40 hikes ~ Walking 4 Education.

Challenge is what makes men. It will be the end when men stop looking for new challenges. ~ Sir Edmund Hillary

It’s been another magic day in the great outdoors! We began our morning with fun & games on the grass then we walked down the driveway and into the Fern Forest. We had packed 50 little purple bags for the Easter Bunny so I think we are quite safe in saying that there were definitely more than 100 shoes making their way via the Porcupine Path to the Natural Pool.

The children ranged in age from about 2 to 13. Some had walking shoes, others were in slops, a few were barefooted and there were even a few bright sparkly pumps. The littlest ones battled over the rocks, a few were scratched by the dried bracken and one little girl was attacked by a black-jack bush but there were no tears. Children need these little adventures. They need to have small challenges and we have to teach them to take them in their stride. Little challenges become greater challenges and this is certainly what makes us grow…. There will no doubt be plenty of growth over the next 37 days!

Our walk was a Sunday stroll and when we reached the Natural Pool, tea was brewing, scones were ready and the Bunny had been. The hunt is always a little nerve wrecking but each little person did get a packet!

Here’s to tomorrow in the great outdoors….
